Workshop Options
Block Printing on Textiles
This workshop introduces participants to the basic techniques of block printing, including designing, carving, and printing their own original images. Participants will gain hands-on experience with the complete textile printing process. The workshop is designed to be accessible to beginners and experienced printers. Are you a repeat attender? I'll always have something new for you to try to expand your skills!
Multicolor Block Printing
Introduces participants to multicolor block printing using the jigsaw method. Participants will design and carve a rubber block, then cut it into multiple pieces to print multicolored images on printmaking paper. Participants will gain hands-on experience with color planning, block cutting, and printing techniques. The workshop is suitable for beginners as well as those with prior experience who want to explore new techniques.
Experiments in Block Printing
Experiments in Block Printing is a free-form, exploratory workshop for anyone interested in learning and expanding their block printing practice. Participants will follow a guided "design, carve, print" process, creating their own carved rubber block. This workshop encourages experimentation with different carving and printing techniques, allowing participants to explore how tools, pressure, and layering affect the final result. Prints can be made on paper or textiles, depending on individual interest. The focus is on process, play, and creative exploration rather than a single finished piece. This is a community-focused workshop where people are encouraged to share ideas and techniques, and perfection is not the focus.
